It is still unclear from where the name Jeep got implemented in the brand, however what we know is that this word was actually a military slang for vehicles that were untested or untried.

When we look back to the history, we can see Jeep through many battles and wars. This is because these vehicles were very favored in the World War II by the American forces. This four by four utility vehicle was a very big success when the war left the Philippines and after that it gave birth to the Filipino jeepney.

When we take a look at the fifties, this is the time when the Jeep Jambories was presented to the market. This vehicle model was created by a group of people who wanted to show how fantastic Jeep really is, not only in the war areas but as well out of them. It is at this time when seven new models of such vehicles were introduced to the market and that were just the beginning of a new friendship between the drivers and the Jeep as a company.

Around the sixties this brand became a synonym to different driving experiences. At this time, there were 14 new models that were launched to the market.

It was in the seventies that the Jeep Cherokee was launched for the first time, and even today it remained a great impact. Today it is considered that the Cherokee is the ultimate for the Jeep design. Also, in the seventies, the Jeep as a brand was already known throughout the world and it gained numerous awards. At this time, there were 6 models of Cherokee that were presented to the market.

In the eighties the old Cherokee models were improved even more. For example, it is at this time when the Cherokee XJ revolutionized the 4 by 4 market through the implementation of a series of features such as – compact four door SUV, the first Uni Frame, etc.

In the nineties, it was the Cherokee ZJ that dominated the market. Then, there was also the Wrangler TJ introducing the new coil suspension and in the end the Grand Cherokee WJ that started dominating the overall SUV market.

Nowadays, we can agree that the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is the iconic vehicle, and is considered to be the best release in the entire Jeep brand history. As far as it comes to this vehicle, there are smaller versions of it, the Patriot and the Compass.

If deciding to buy a new car isn’t for you, then there are other options. Used or repairable jeeps for sale can be a great option. Jeeps last a long time and can stand up to a lot of wear and tear.
