2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 vs 2007 Grand Cherokee SRT8

Auto roadside assistance services have been able to help drivers who were in very difficult situations. A 24 hour towing and roadside assistance service can be particularly valuable, since people never know when their vehicles are going to have issues. These services may be particularly important for the people who frequently drive at night, or who have long commutes every day.

The individuals who are careful to keep their vehicles in generally good condition are less likely to need a 24 hours car towing service. Certain vehicles are also less likely than others to have significant problems. Still, some of the problems that can occur on the road can be difficult to accurately predict. Careful drivers will schedule vehicle maintenance procedures regularly, and they’ll make sure that they’re able to contact roadside assistance services if necessary.

Some drivers may eventually need a 100 mile towing service. The costs associated with towing vehicles across large distances can certainly vary. Customers will often spend over three hundred dollars in order to get their vehicles towed for 100 miles. They might spend four hundred and fifty dollars in some cases, but they usually shouldn’t expect to pay much more than that. Different factors may influence the price.

We can easily say that when one vehicle gets a big update even before its mid point of product cycle, means that we will be facing with major issues. However, when we include the minor cosmetic tweaks, the changes made to the Grand Cherokee SRT are really not so big. For example, we can just mention the SRT8 moniker that has been binned.

2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 – What we find in the today’s Grand Cherokee SRT8 (470-hp, 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 – that was introduced with the 2007 Grand Cherokee SRT8) is still present with the difference that it has been mated to the eight speed automatic transmission ZF 8HP70 and was luckily not replaced with the musty old five speed.

Also, what the new SRT8 brings is the possibility of controlling gearswaps by new and more pronounced paddle shifters. It also brings new two shift modes which are Drive and Sport and which alter the transmissions of the vehicle independently from the  five Selec-Track modes: Auto, Sport, Tow, Track and Snow.

Some other enhancements have also been made to the SUV’s practicality. For example, the new gearbox allows 7200 pounds of towing capacity. It is also very important that we mention the new feature for 2014 – Eco mode.

When it comes to exterior changes, they are basically limited to lights, a slightly different grille, and a re-sculpted power operated  lift-gate. Also, this includes changes on headlamp bezels, lower fascias, rear spoiler and the car also gets a new wheel design and new LED Light Bulbs signatures in the bi-xenon headlamps.

And as far as it goes to the interior, the major updates include a 8.4-inch touch-screen infotainment interface and  a 7 inch customizable instrument display.

2007 Grand Cherokee SRT8 – from the other side, we have the 2007 model that was in fact the first Jeep tuned by SRT.  We already mentioned earlier that what is under the hood remained the same even with the new 2014 model, with some slightly changes/additions.

The 2007 model was the first to bring rearview camera as an option, however the basic package already included an unique instrument panel with aluminum accents together with access to most engine functions on an LED display.

The 2007 Jeep Cherokee SRT8 model was in fact only a bit upgraded and changed, due to all today’s technical developments, and we got a 2014 SRT8 model.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 vs Range Rover Sport Autobiography

2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Jeep BastardIs Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 America’s Range Rover? This is how we can start the review of the two, we can easily say, most popular models for the upcoming 2014 year.

Honestly, auto reviewers can be a bit picky. Normally, they have just about a couple of days to identify the weaknesses or strengths of new car models, and this task requires from them to analyze the vehicle very detail, while at the same time getting plenty of eyeballs from neighbours or friends. Personally, I wouldn’t mind to be in their skin, so lets take a look at how they analyzed the two most competitive vehicles on the market – Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 vs Range Rover Sport Autobiography.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 – this car has an attitude towards speed. This is a sport coupe, and the biggest sign telling that this vehicle’s purpose is straightline acceleration is its 0 to 60 indicator, followed by a countdown stoplight. Comparing it with the popular Range Rover Sport, the Cherokee SRT8 gets one thumb up just because of its cheaper price.

This vehicle is using a naturally aspirated engine – the Chrysler’s 6.1-liter pushrod Hemi. 60 mph has been reported in 4.4 sec’s. Its breaking performance is 176 feet from 70 mph.

Range Rover Sport Autobiography – this is a very large car, very comfortable and luxurious. When we take into consideration its weight, and when we compare it to the Grand Cherokee SRT8, the steering of this vehicle was surprisingly flighty at higher speeds. The biggest advantages of this vehicle are its supercharged V8, its staggering technology and equipment and of course its styling from the interior and exterior.

The Range Rover and its supercharged 5 litre V8 is among the favourite engines that this brand delivered to the market. The power delivery is remarkable as well. It reaches 100km/h in only 6.2 sec’s however this performance is not at a price since its fuel consumption is rated 15l per 100 kms.

Taking all into consideration we can easily say that the Jeep Cherokee SRT8 is quite a bargain when we compare it to the European models. And not only that – for Americans, it has the heritage of being the part of their original off-road manufacturer.
